Preparing Your Space

Setting up your new pool is easy, but proper preparation is the key to a perfect installation. Here is exactly what you need to get your yard ready for delivery day.

You’ll need:

  1. A solid, leveled surface for you pool and pump

  2. Two outdoor rated outlets within 8ft of your pool desired location, for your filter pump and heater & chiller.

  3. A clear pathway & access to roll in your pool to your yard

How To Prepare Your Space

Preparing for your Ranch Tank pool is simple. You mainly need a level area for the pool, a small space for the equipment, and clear access for delivery.

Step 1: Prepare a Level Base

Your pool needs a level, stable surface.
We recommend a pea gravel, decomposed granite, or mulch base approximately 3 inches thick.

A well-prepared mulch bed is a great affordable solution as long as the area underneath is firm and level.

The base should extend at least 1 foot beyond the edge of the pool.

Step 2: Prepare the Equipment Area

Leave a level area approximately 3' × 4' next to the pool, within about 6 feet of the pool, for the filter pump and heater/chiller.
For our standard setup, you will need two outdoor-rated 120V, 15A GFCI-protected outlets located within approximately 8 feet of the equipment area:

  • One outlet for the filter pump

  • One outlet for the heater/chiller

Electrical Specifications for Your Electrician

If you are having new outdoor outlets installed, you can provide your electrician with the following equipment specifications:

  • Sand filter pump: 120V, approximately 1.8 amps

  • Heater/chiller: 120V, approximately 11.9 amps

We recommend separate GFCI-protected outlets for each piece of equipment.

Your electrician should verify final circuit requirements based on the equipment specifications, installation location, and applicable electrical code.

Step 3: Clear the Delivery Path

Make sure there is a clear pathway from the street or driveway to the pool location.
We simply need enough room to safely move the pool into your backyard and place it on the prepared base.
